چکیده
Aim: to identify factors associated with the symptom severity of thyrotoxic atrial fibrillation (TAF). Patients and Methods: this retrospective study included 70 patients overt hyperthyroidism TAF. The following parameters were used assess TAF severity: type (AF); functional class (f.c.) heart failure (HF) ejection fraction (EF) coexisting AF; evaluation AF-related symptoms using European Heart Rhythm Association score (EHRA); ventricular contraction rate (VCR) during AF. Clinical features, medical history echocardiographic compared in different determine factors, severe clinical course TAF, meeting criteria: persistent III-IV f.c. failure; EF<50%; EHRA 3–4; VCR ≥90 per minute. Results: as regards features history, only male gender was considered a predictor defined follows: AF, decrease EF<50%, development f.c., AF (EHRA 3–4). parameters: left atrium diameter ventricle mass index class. Both EF Conclusion: identified study. These findings could be for predicting and, future, optimizing guidelines management KEYWORDS: thyrotoxicosis, hyperthyroidism, fibrillation, Graves’ disease. Thyrotoxic Atrial Fibrillation: Factors Associated with Persistence and Risk of Ischemic Stroke
Background Atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the commonest cardiovascular manifestations of thyrotoxicosis. A significant proportion of patients have persistent AF which may have long term consequences, for example, ischemic stroke. Methods We performed a retrospective cohort study in a regional hospital from January 2004 to June 2016 to examine the clinical characteristics and outcomes of t...

متن کاملFactors Associated with the Incidence and Severity of New-Onset Atrial Fibrillation in Adult Critically Ill Patients
BACKGROUND Acute Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is common in critically ill patients, with significant morbidity and mortality; however, its incidence and severity in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) from low-income countries are poorly studied. Additionally, impact of vasoactive drugs on its incidence and severity is still not understood. This study aimed to assess epidemiology and risk factors for acute...
متن کاملEvaluation of Mitral Stenosis Patients with Atrial Fibrillation for Factors Associated with Left Atrial Thrombosis
Introduction: Rheumatic heart disease still remains a common health problem and an important cause of morbidity and mortality in all age group. Mitral stenosis is the most common cardiac valve lesion involved in rheumatic heart disease. This can cause serious complications if left untreated and can lead to enlargement of the left atrium and stasis of blood which increases risk of clot formation...
